Our Composite Processing/Additive Manufacturing/Composite Processing group is seeking an Engineer who will evaluates technical and economic factors, recommending engineering and manufacturing actions for attainment of design objectives of process or product.

  • Assembly and operation of additive manufacturing processing equipment
  • Design,  fabrication, testing of composite materials
  • Process data acquisition and analysis
  • Performing design-of-experiments
  • Testing and evaluation of materials
  • Interface with outside test facilities
  • Authoring of technical reports and procedures.
  • Ability to function autonomously in a fast paced materials fabrication environment.
  • May act as a Laboratory Coordinator.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and engage effectively in discussion to optimize mold and component designs.
  • Reviews plans for new product and factors such as strength, weight, and cost to submit material selection recommendations ensuring attainment of design objectives.
  • Plans and implements laboratory operations to develop material and fabrication procedures for new materials to fulfill product cost and performance standards.
  • Confers with producers of materials during investigation and evaluation of materials suitable for specific product applications.
  • Reviews product failure data and interprets laboratory tests and analyses to establish or rule out material and process causes.

Qualifications:  M. S. or B.S. in Materials or Mechanical Engineering.  Prior industrial experience in composite design, and fiber reinforced design.  2-10 years of lab environment experience.  Hands-on experience with additive manufacturing, composite design, and fiber reinforced design.

Proficiency in computer aided design and drafting including layout, tolerancing, and detailed parts list generation (SolidWorks, COMSOL,and ProE). Standard analytical computer skills, Efficiency in Windows operating environment, Office Suite products (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Internet Browser is required.
